Meet The Velvet Army

 

     It started with Lydia Low arriving in Denton, TX in pursuit of her own American Dream. She scoured house shows and open mics till she gathered up four formidable female musicians who were all songwriters in their own right. Sunny Marcell was spotted playing her bass, churning out harmonies on the fly, all while commanding the eyes of every person in the room. Chelsey Danielle was sessioning for another local band, but commanded the percussive elements with incredible ease, and a distinctive, fiery flare. Ellie Meyer was a singer-songwriter whose path constantly crossed with Lydia's, but it wasn't till they became roommates that they took the logical step of bringing Ellie's warmth and spark to the group. This four-frontwomen band flits through an assortment of genres, but every song is packed with rich layers of harmonies, stories and hooks. This band of friends dream of music festivals, tours, and perhaps a sponsorship or two. Most of all, they strive to make music that they can be proud of, together.
